Rhizomes branched, pale yellow inside, fleshy, with strong aromatic odor. Pseudostems 50-100 cm tall.
Leaves sessile to subsessile; ligule slightly 2-lobed, 5 mm tall, glabrous, thin; leaf blade narrowly lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, 18-30 by 2-3 cm, glabrescent.
Inflorescences ovoid, 4-5 cm; peduncle slender, to 25 cm; bracts pale green, sometimes yellowish at margin, ovate, ca. 2.5 by 1.8 cm, apex mucronate, margin incurved, persistent; bracteoles as long as bracts; calyx ca. 1 cm long; corolla yellowish green; tube 2-2.5 cm long; dorsal lobe lanceolate, ca. 18 by 8 mm, lateral lobes narrower; labellum 3-lobed, central lobe oblong-obovate, ca. 12 mm long, with purple stripe and cream blotches, shorter than corolla lobes; lateral lobes ovate, ca. 6 mm long, divided nearly to base; stamen dark purple; anther ca. 9 mm long; connective appendage curved, ca. 7 mm long.
